About the event
We hope that you will consider joining us for Warbirds over Shawbury, RAFMAA’s annual 2-day scale event, kindly hosted by our friends from the RAF Shawbury Model Aircraft Club at their airfield based flying site in the Midlands.
Historic RAF Shawbury dates back to the formation of the Royal Air Force and we are very pleased to be able to hold our Warbird themed event at such an appropriate place in this, our 100th year.
The event is open to everyone, not just RAFMAA members. As a result it attracts some of the best aero modellers in the country and an incredibly diverse selection of models from all eras of aviation.
The emphasis is very much on taking part, having a fun day and spending time with like minded enthusiasts. The event is very inclusive and regardless of whether your model is powered by an electric motor, an IC engine or a jet turbine, is built from balsa, GRP or even foam you will be made to feel most welcome. Yes, it may be a “Warbirds” event but in fact entry requirements for your models are actually quite relaxed. You will find that even the most tenuous of links to being a War plane will be perfectly acceptable....... although if you simply stick roundels on a WOT 4 you may have to prepare yourself for a bit of friendly banter!
You can fly from the expansive hard standing to your heart’s content but there will also be plenty of opportunities throughout the day to chuck-up a foamie for a bit of impromptu dogfighting!
Toilet facilities are provided and tea/coffee will also be available for a small charge. All proceeds raised from this event will be donated to Station Charities.
We hope as many of you as possible will join us and we look forward to seeing you there!
